Hi
The engineer keeps having to look at his text books. He is ok at present but we will have a big argument when i fit the turbos.

Looking good Andrew. About the red dodad on the steering box. I've read a few things over the last few years about how that's the last thing you want there. From what I understand is that the material (Nyroprene?) isn't designed for those sorts of forces seen during steering and it sheers apart. One story the unit was less than 6 months old.

Hi Yes thanks for the heads up I did some R/D before purchase and found most of the storys come from installations that allow the unit to deflect or move in multiple directions if these loads are removed and the unit only is transmits steering loads the units last fo a number of years.(I bought 2 just incase)

Fair enough. Might be an idea to keep that spare in the car.

Andrew, I have thought about doing the "twin steering box" trick on my reek here in the UK. Did you use a LHD steering box? Will the damper fit in the same position? Are you using a std damper?

Hi
Steering box was my orignal with a left hand arm fitted. Damper will not fit in same position is now to be mounted on the other side of the center arm. Yes standed damper custon mount off the chassis not the beam. I will look through my pictures on the week end and post one showing the completed setup.

Hi
Dont use that red thing on your steering. That will break without notice in about 3 weeks. The vw forum also say they are bad. You are best to use original rubber type. just a heads up, looks great.
