356 kit on VW Chassis
«

I've been looking at some other kit cars,
Has anyone seen a Porsche 356 kit up close?
If so are they any good?

I had a couple a few years back. Great cars in sunny weather.

I think it was one of their cars I saw in a car mag a few years back. I took interest because they used the Scooby donk & gearbox. In the mag it looked great, but I haven't seen one up close.

This one was sold a while back on ebay, must've fell through
This will never be able to be registered without an engineers and lots of dollars.
Its an import, and its not one of the "good copy" 356 body's, hence the reason its cheap and probably why the deal fell through before
The Body is all out of proportion.
The RC Speedsters are very good quality and very expensive
From memory 50k plus They had some at the Melbourne Motor Show a few years back.
Very well finished but the nostrils spoil the look. Also the new and old and all the ADR stuuf doesn't quite work together for me.
Cheers

I've always liked the 356, could never could afford a "real" one... then I came across this kit and it sparked my interest, I thought if the chassis is similar to the reek and we have been there done that, then the rest shouldn't be too hard.
but then again having the ADR for a car built now not for the ADR for eg 1978 would be a little harder.
the other kit I am interested in would be a AC Cobra, but it is a little more expensive again...
sooo many wishes... not enough $$$

I originally wanted to build a 356 for my first son,
But he turned into a complete
idiot
. So I had another son. I'm now looking at the new DRB 540 Cobra for him when he gets older. Another car that appeals and no money to do anything about it...

Floorpan is shortened on the 356 by about 11in so getting one registered may be a real problem.

Shortened floorpans will be virtually impossible (at least in Qld).
Just ask anyone wanting to register their Manx Buggy builds for the first time.
I keep telling Rod that his is worth a mint.
