Looks like you missed a digit on the last figure. Basically it comes down to demand. The population of Oz would simply disappear if we were all suddenly transported into the
city of New York. Just the city, let alone the state of New York, let alone the whole of the US.
So basically, you've got 10 times the people interested in kit cars over there to what we have here. More people buying, the more you can charge.
Then there's the fact those are for new kits. What new 'reeks are being sold today? None. Even if you manage to find a virgin kit, it's still second hand (and you'd be bloody lucky).
