Ok, whilst looking for something in the old forum, I found a post by Simon.

Here's a good one for us older freaks.
Got an email from Just Car magazines:

I wouldn' mind tapping into the member's knowledge base at some stage to find out more info on a VB Commodore 'Bathurst Pack' bodykit that Purvis marketed in the (very) late 1970s/early 80s.

This is news to me. I knew Allan made various other moulds for a range of other cars but I don't remember there being any Bathurst kits. If this kit still exists, where would it be now? In the 40' container? I just know one of you guys knows something!

     Simon

Which prompted me on a quick search on the internet. Never know what might turn up, right? Maybe nothing at all.

Not this time.

Found these.

I'd say this is what the lads & lasses over at Just Car Mag were looking for, even though it's for the VC, not VB. They were probably thinking it's time for a beer when they couldn't find the info they wanted. lol

I just bought one, and that leaves 13 left, if anyone wants one.

Thanks for that Cyc,
I've just emailed Micheal Ryan over at Just Cars with the Ebay site, so he'll be happy. Good stuff!

Hi guys,
Just to follow up this thread: a bit of positive feedback I thought I'd post that has kept our friends at Just Cars happy, especially after their sponsorship of our last meet:

G’day Simon,

Thanks for your and the club’s persistence on that. I’m most impressed!!!

I’m trying to piece together some Purvis info for a potential JUST CARS feature, so this will come in handy.

Thanks again for your efforts.

Regards,

Mike Ryan

Strewth, I'll have to hit him up with some info for his story! Bloody hell, I'll email him again...

Aaaah yes, let the positive waves flow, man. Coooooolllllllllll.....

Very cool. Find out what this Purvis story is about, and I might end up getting my hands on that issue of Just Cars mag. Even better if we could have a heads up when that particular issue is released.

Ok, got the magazine in the mail today (Motor Manual, October 1980), and gave the article a quick read.

In short, basically while Brock was contemplating making his first Brock Special, GMH approached Purvis Fiberglass Products to build up the Body Kit for their project of a beefed up commodore for 'homologation'. It was to be part of a 'options pack' along with go faster bits, lowered suspension, etc. The body kit consisted of a revised front spoiler, wheel arch flares and a lip spoiler. They also made a bonnet scoop. In the end both Brocks project, and that of GMH merged together, and GMH got another specialist not far from Dandenong to put together the body kit.

So Alan Purvis missed out on that deal in the end. It was to be for 500 cars. And it didn't use the bonnet scoop. It does mean that potentially there's a VC Commodore out there with the Purvis body kit on it, but I really doubt it's lasted this long without any damage done to it, and thus being removed from the car.
