 Hi guys
 can some one tell me if we can use a type 1- 1974 beetle floor pan
 and if not (why not) I seem to remember being told along
 time ago that only up to type 1- 1970 beetles can be used because of their front end
 Im hoping I just deeamed it because I know where there is one going
 real cheap.
 any info would be much appresiated

From memory it was because the newer ones moved to a mcpherson strut front end which is too high to fit under the front bodywork.

Depends on the frontend. I have a 74 that has a beam front, but most are Mcpherson Strut.

G'day Ken,

The original good book says on page 2;

Please keep in mind that the Eureka was designed specifically for installation on a standard unaltered* Type 1 Beetle chassis, 1956 through 1974.  Given the choice, we would recommend 1969 or newer chassis because of late type suspension i.e., ball joint front suspension and double U-jointed half shafts at rear makes your EUREKA a much better handling machine than those put on older type chassis.

And the asterisk doesn't mean batteries not included, Cheesy it says:

After all that, my new Reek has a 1976 floor pan in it and I am lead to believe 1976 was the last year of the H-beam front end Type 1 (Beetle) and only MacPherson strut front ends were made after that which as Radek rightly put it, just don't fit under there! Cry Tongue
