Title: Bribie Island Day Trip
Post by: shonko on Saturday, 31 October, 2009, 07:39:13 AM
As discussed in one of the posts we are planning a drive around the Bribie Island area on Sunday 15 November. Gunna is planning to stay the weekend on the island with his family and I am looking at coming up after son's sport on Saturday afternoon also.

Therefore a casual dinner or afternoon coffee on Saturday could also be arranged if enough people are interested.

As I bring a plan together I will post it here.

Hi All,

Looks like I'm gunna be downgrading to myself and one rugrat for the Bribie trip.  Wendy's all "camped out" after this weekend in Coffs. ;D

I will sus out somewhere to stay unless someone has a good suggestion????

A Saturday night and Sunday morn sounds the go.

I might be up for a cabin as well.  My good wife has bluntly noted "How are you going to fit all the stuff into THAT THING (as she calls it) for a camping trip AND carry a son as well?"

She has a point!!

Dean

Hey guys,  mind if i come along?  Bribie is just around the corner from my place and I'd love to get some more inspiration for my project car.  Unfortunately I've hit a mini speed bump with QLD dep transport :(  Also there are some nice twisting and winding roads in the Malany region that could be fun.  Just putting it out there.

Dean, son 12 and I are happy to share a cabin with you if you like.

robertocarlos, you are more than welcome to join us.......I am going to finalise some detail (hopefully tonight) and post it up here.

I am looking at a drive Saturday afternoon departing from the "Twin BP's", a dinner on Bribie Saturday night, and a drive-lunch-drive on Sunday, finishing at the "Twin BP's".

Anyone who can make some or all of it welcome. Times and places to be advised.

Shonko

Done deal Shonko.
I haven't selected which son is coming yet (The 11, 9 or 5yr old) but whichever will talk the legs off a table and make it run afterwards ;D.
Will watch this space closely.

Ok guys this is the DRAFT plan.

SATURDAY
2.30PM - Meet at the "Twin BP's" south bound side of the Bruce Highway
3.00PM - Drive around Bribie Island, finishing at Woorim. (approx 40km)
6.00PM - Tea at the Woorim Pub

SUNDAY
10.00AM - Meet at the "Twin BP's" north bound side of the Bruce Highway
10.30AM - Drive to Baroon Pocket Dam (approx 52km)
12.00PM - Lunch at Baroon Pocket Dam Kiosk, or bring your own.
1.00PM - Drive to Howells Knob Lookout (approx 22km)
2.00PM - Drive to the "Twin BP's" south bound side of the Bruce Highway (approx 50km)
3.00PM - Finished. Those heading back to BNE might want to drive back together and "peal off" as we go, entirely up to you.

Obviously you can choose to join in or exit the "tour" as you please. This is only a plan, I am open to suggestions and constructive criticisms.

The times are only 'guesstmiates' so if you want to catch up with us along the way best you call me to find out where we are upto.

0 4 0 8  2 0 6  7 0 0

Hope to see some of you on Saturday or Sunday.....or both!  ;D

regards
Shonko (Shaun)

Mmmmmm...... I'm looking good for the same thing but mine will a bright yellow suzuki swift sports.

After spending a little bit of time on the RRRR today it's looking good for another/softer clutch plate before it's street driveable.  Plus I need the coilover shocks as well.  See how we go in 10 days.

(But in a straight line around the local streets, you run out of road real quick.)

That is gr8 news Gunna..........get to the shed!

BTW the caravan park is fully booked so we are staying at the Surfside Shack @ $120.....so that is $60ea. Cool? ???

Hope it is not raining next week end as my car does not have a very good solution for a roof..........it involves 'gaffa tape', you don't want to know!!! ;D

Yes, yes, Shonko, in the shed until the candle burns low. Slave driver, mutter grizzle groan...............

Thanks for teeing up the sleep over. 60 is fine.  I'll shout for dinner.  And the sleeping bags are already loaded.  Just gotta make sure Cyco doesn't gatecrash and wanta head down to that Blue Oyster Place ;D.

I have a solution for the rain.  Lift all the electricals a foot above the floor pan and drill some drain holes at the lowest point ::).  No gaffa tape required.

The lunch at the dam should be great.  I went there once and it's a beautiful place, tucked away.

Looking forward to it!

See you guys on the weekend. Now to clean all the crap out of the reek from the Mildura trip..........  :o

I haven't laughed so much in ages! sorry shonko and gunna for picking on you roflmao
kiosk? what kiosk?...the only ones prepared were the porche crew! (that says something doesn't it?) there were also a few issues about gps and map reading but in the end we found our way! though i did mention to shonko that we don't need a beautiful location for a meet... the requirments were eurekas, shade...perhaps chairs....we had million $$$ views and everyone was staring at the back end of a reek!
we will be up for another meet whenever! and of course our welcome mat is always out for eureka people

Well for a first outing for sometime, we had two reeks and 15 ppl attend, which I think is a gr8 effort. Thank you to all who attended, it was good to put some faces to names (and nick names.........the two named name badges might be a good idea...... ;D)

There was a lot of talk of projects at various stages and ideas and contacts were shared. There was also a lot of laughing and good times............my role was to be the victim of most of the sledging for the day, but that is ok by me.........I will have the last laugh when I start my own Kiosk at Lake Baroon.....and I will be charging triple for canned tuna for Porche owners :o :o

The lake was gr8 and you can swim there if you are game.........there was a suggestion that we might have a picnic there sometime in February 2010. So watch for the Grand Opening of Shonko's Kiosk in the new year. ;D

SHONKO'S CAFE.  You'll make a killing. :D

Great weekend.  It was the first time that Ryan and I had gotten away.  The company we kept was great,  very friendly and understanding.  10 out of 10.  Thanks all.

Lots of exchanges of ideas and projects about our passion.

And my wife wants to come along to the next meeting in Feb2010 to start the "Wife of Eureka Owners Support Group".  She has a good supply of thumb screws to stop us getting out of hand.  And a Cattle Prod to get us out off the computer and do all those other jobs around the house.  Her name is Wicked Wendy from the West ;D.

And Shonko, suck it up, we have only just begun to pick on you.  "Follow me, my GPS knows were I'm going". LOL LOL LOL......................
