Hello one and all, the announcement you have all been waiting for.

The venue for this years AGM has been selected, and it is:




The dates for the extravaganza are Friday 22, Saturday 23 and Sunday 24 of October, 2010. So get your holidays booked.

While Darren (Stig) and I are working very hard to bring this event together for you, obviously this far out there is still much to finalise, what I can tell you is the accommodation cost will be in the ballpark of $130 per room per night based on a double or a twin share, a little more for a family room and a bit more again for a 2 bedroom family suit. So start saving.

Please reply to this thread if you are planning to attend and then around 3 months out we will be looking for a commitment in the form of a deposit. $

So get planning, we will love to see you there!!!! (hic)

seriously considering it, flights from melbourne to coffs via sydney are 179 and 179 return for that weekend so id need approx 1 gorrila, fingers crossed, at least this time i can prepare my $$$ a bit better and i wont let any appointments be booked for then like the last time, i only joined the forum just before the mildura meet and was shattered i couldnt go.

Hmmmmmm....well put it this way....once the "cheap" tickets are sold out ...the next cheapest is 2 1/2 times dearer than what we paid for ours....so yeah....makes sense to buy now, fly later!

Has anyone shipped a reek from NSW to WA or visa versa?

Just thinking about bringing my toy over (1 Eureka) if i can  a) guareentee it wont get damaged in transit,  b) get the time away from work  ???

I sure haven't, but one did go from WA to SA. And then there's Shonko, who's reek went from QLD, to SA, then back to QLD....but then is is Shonko for a reason. lol

There are a few companies out there that do move cars around Oz, up and including high priced Lambos/Fezzas/etc.

Maybe Simon, being involved as he is with the custom car scene, knows a few good outfits he could recommend. Certainly see if you can find reviews of the various companies online. I know there's one local (Central Coast)to me (see their trucks regularly in their front yard), but I understand they charge like a wounded bull.

Would love to see it in the 'flesh', Kym certainly turns out great looking cars.    ;) ;D

Hi all,

Just a quick update on the National Meet. We have 36 people signed up ready to go and 12 Eurekas!!! There are a couple of others that have implied they are attending but I haven't seen a form or a deposit from them (yet).

The order had gone in for the meet shirts today...............so if you are signing on late and want a shirt there is no guarantee it will be ready in time for the meet, but we will order you one if you wish to have one. (Ken your form arrived this arvo, thanks)

If you have been "sitting on the fence" NOW is the time to get in.............

To all those who have committed to going and put up your "hard earned" I thank you, and look forward to seeing you all in Coffs Harbour.

We have yet to organise all that stuff like who's coming, who's driving, who's towing, who's coming up the Hume and who's coming up the Princess, where we are all staying on the Thursday night.... (what wheels and tyres to wear 8))

We'll keep in touch so we can organise it 'cause yeah, a convoy of Reeks for the last stretch would be a hoot.  ;D

Depends on when we want to arrive I guess. It takes around 5 to 6 hours from Gosford, but that's with no stops. I'd say I'd be leaving no later than 11:00, probably earlier.

I could meet people from Sydney and further south at the rest stop at the Ourimbah interchange. Then travel up to Newcastle and meet up with the Newcastle crew and head further north.

I was thinking of leaving at around 10am from kurri.stop at macca's at kempsi or where ever you and me stopped paul last time.

Hi Paul, and gang. I will be leaving tomorrow for Sydney. I will be towing as I am still having trouble getting the jetting right on my reek. I am staying at Forster till Friday. Perhaps I can get it right by next Friday. I have a 1916 VW with Dual HPMX's much the same as IDAs. If anyone else has had experience please share the knowledge. I have read several forums but they only help so much. Nothing like hands on. I have some jets but if anyone can help with bringing some others it would be much appreciated. I think I'm close. See you at the meet.

               It's getting a bit close you freaks. Is anyone going to lock in a meeting place for the Victorians and the NSWelschmen to meet up for a possible convoy into Coffs? Either that or it's every reek for himself!

I believe the Victorians are spread out a bit with leaving times. Some have left already, some leaving Wed. some leaving Thur.
Cyco's idea that we meet at the Ourimbah Interchange Friday morning sounds ok to me. Those that have gone on ahead can be rounded up by phone on the way. I think the interchange is just north of Gosford. Cyco knows traveling times so its up to him to tell us when to be there.

Well people, it is that time of year again.........some of us are even already on there way (not directly) to the meet and the rest are busily making last minute preperations.

Officially we have 41 people attending and 14.5 Eurekas!!!!!.....who is bringing half a car I hear you say.....well I might be exagerating slightly. There is a scaled down version that lives in Coffs Harbour and the owner, Andrew, will be bringing it out for us to see.........so I am rounding it up to 15 Reeks!!!!!!! And it was nearly 17!

Some of may not have heard yet but our Secretary, Paul, has had to cancel last minute due to illness, and he is "not happy Jan" about it I can tell you...he had a mate lined up to bring both of his Eureka's to the show, now that is club dedication for you!!!....Get well soon Paul and we will see you in 2011.

For the rest of us travel safely and I will see you on Friday for a beer and a laugh (or two..... hic!)

BTW those travelling south from BNE, Phil in QLD has advised it is smooth sailing except for the road works for the bypass around Ballina, so take your time and take care. I think most of us are meeting up at Yatala BP at 9am anywho.............see you there!!!!!! woop woop....woop woop......woop woop!!!!!!

Ok, From The south side of Sydney to Gosford is roughly 2 hours depending on traffic. Gosford to Kurri Kurri (the Stig) is just on an hour from Gosford. Kurri to Coffs is about 5 hours, and that's with out a break or factoring in traffic.

So I'd say at the Ourimbah Interchange at around 8am - 9am at the latest. Then head north to pick up Darren, then onwards up to Coffs.

That should put us arriving at Coffs at roughly 3pm - 4pm.

No, I haven't worked out a route, and travel times are just going from Where Is.com (http://www.whereis.com/)

Those of you with a GPS unit, if you search for Ourimbah Rest Area (NSW) it should come up. The interchange clearly is marked and you have to bear left off the F3 and the rest area is just left again at the first roundabout (pretty much straight away off the exit ramp).

Thats it. For those from the south, maybe meet up at the end of the Hume Highway. 

I hope to get away about 9 am give or take from kurri.
I can wait just over the hexham bridge at tomago for a while if anyone lets me know if they want me to.

I will be an acting Queenslander on Friday, (so there will actually be TWO phils in Qld)

I plan to be in Brizvagas Thurs arvo and plan to drive down to Coffs Friday.

How's this for a plan.

Whoever wants to meet at the Ourimbah Rest Area, we could then head to Tomago (mind you, I did have to look it up. lol), and catch up with Darren there. Probably arriving at Tomago around 10ish. Then onwards from Tomago to Coffs, which would still be around the 5ish hour drive.

guy's i wish i had some great news an say yes i will be in coffs but due to circumstances i am unable to control i can't be in coffs to snap up the excitement that  i had in 08 heres hoping for 2011 or 2012  ...

hexham is about 20mins from kurri if I swirve all over the road. so about 9:30 ish ,but ring if it's a go even if we don't meet there i woun't be far ahead and will be stopping at macca's kempsii for lunch,I will ring cyco around forster to see how far behind you are.

A big thanks to all who attended from all over, some with Eureka's some without ,1 who started out with their eureka  but it had different ideas and some who flapped their wings  ,A good time was had by all I hope.
A BIG thanks to Shonko he did most of the work I just got everyone lost  .
It was good to catch up with old friends and meet some new ones.
And I hope everyone have or will arrive home safely and in shonko's case Very WET !! :P

Hi All, got home a couple of hours ago..........didn't leave Coffs until about 2pm (when the rain stopped)........got a little wet between Grafton and Ballina but mostly dry. Drove the last two hours in the dark following my new Rhino Buggy home on the trailer.....all of a sudden my shed is looking very small!!!!! ;D

Thanks to Darren, Mez, Simon for your assistance in preparation for the event..........wouldn't have been possible with out you. Thanks to Dragon too, for not toarching my reek when it broke down for the 3rd and 4th time in one day.........(didn't skip a beat on the way home, amazing what a new battery can do) :-[

A BIG thanks to the people whom have provided positive feedback, as we are not "event managers" we are simply reek enthusiest doing the best we can.

See you guys on the forum and looking forward to seeing you again in Mildura...........

 The ever reliable Landcruiser ( who wants a reek) arrived home in Vic at lunch time today, 2904 Km trouble free! I have never done that in a rotary powered VW.
Thats enough complaining. I had a great week end thanks to Darren Shaun and their behind the scene helpers, on site coffee, great idea. A lot of new things to mention -- Space age gadjets, mini eureka, mid mount motor + lots more. If you could not get there you certainly missed out.
Roll on next year, how will the TROOPY go on a go-cart track???

Both of our Reeks are out and proud for this summer season of driving around and showing off in the Adelaide Hills....can't wait to see the Adelaide crowd around the place.

Ok, so I've finally logged on.  lol

When I got home and turned on the computer the transfer the photos from my camera to the computer, the computers power supply died in the arse. Ah well, what's an extra hundred or so $$ expense for October. lol  Only got it back late this afternoon. Photo's will come, just slowly as I'm on the arse end of broadband connection.

Was a ball of fun, met new people and saw new 'reeks. Andrew's mini 'reek was a blast. Had fun crusing around Coffs, and for once I didn't get too badly sun burned. My neck was the worst, and even that looked worse than it really way.

Weather wise it was great, aside from the rain on sunday evening/monday as previously mentioned. On the Sunday evening, I only put in the side windows with the screws and electrical tape, as I was hoping for fair weather on monday for the trip home. Wasn't to be, only a slight leak during the night. So I fitted the side windows properly with the rubber strip for the trip home. It was the first real test of side windows during rain, and overall they held up amazingly well.

I'll be slowly putting up the photos and videos I took over the next week or so. Just over 100 photos and a handful of short videos.
