Title: The British Reek is ROAD LEGAL Post by: bushboy on Friday, 03 April, 2009, 01:21:09 AM G'day to you all down under.
I am pleased to finally report that the Reek that I brought over to the UK with me is all legal & on the road. Sailed through its MOT (rego check) and the best part is due to its age the road tax is Nil, zero, zip. It's still as rough as guts on the inside & a bit (read lot) scuffed on the out side. I'll post a few pics soon and maybe some onroad footage as well. The V6 in the back is wonderful Catch ya all later bushboy Title: Re: The British Reek is ROAD LEGAL Post by: CyCo on Friday, 03 April, 2009, 03:16:33 AM Congrats Martin!! To fill in the gaps, I brought it about 16 years ago in Rockhampton QLD, was yellow with Wattle Paints logos all over it. I went on a holiday to the UK and ended up marrying one of them (as you do). Settled down & shipped my reek over (10 years ago), which at the time had an engineers certificate just waiting for me to put lights on it & present it for a rego test. So all up it took me 16 years 4 different engines, 5 different sets of tail lights, and 1000 changes in directions. I've threatend to sell it, burn it, kick it & marry it in the time and the first propper drive was as sweet as. Keep reeking Title: Re: The British Reek is ROAD LEGAL Post by: cruetoone on Saturday, 04 April, 2009, 02:50:26 AM ahh now im not so slow i know this one .... thanx for clearing it up bushboy !!!!!

Good stuff Bushy! What you've done with the rear louver is sex and the way you've stretched the top either side to blend down flush into the rear panel is excellent. Well done! Do the Poms get jealous of your high roof and elephant ears? Simon Title: Re: The British Reek is ROAD LEGAL Post by: Gravelsandwich on Saturday, 11 April, 2009, 12:53:02 AM Well done Bushboy.
I love your twin exhaust, looks perfect and well hidden. Liam Title: Re: The British Reek is ROAD LEGAL Post by: CyCo on Sunday, 12 April, 2009, 02:11:37 AM Will be better when he gets rid of the type 4 bumper, which he does intend to do later on. It's just there for getting it on the road.
Good work Martin. 8) Title: Re: The British Reek is ROAD LEGAL Post by: cruetoone on Monday, 13 April, 2009, 09:57:45 AM he shouldn't it looks cool.... O0

Thanks for all the comments. I only half like the MkIV bumper. I have acouple of ideas of what to do with the rear. 1. Finish modding the original Eureka rear to take frenched in round LED lights 2. Mod the MkIV by removing about 150mm from the middle & then blending it into the under lying valance. But that can wait till winter. For now I intend to drive it till I drop. THe exhaust tips were given to me by a friend. I actually have twin hexagonal pipes that I need to have chromed. Nothing like them off the shelf, and thas what I like. This W/E is the Stoneleigh Kit car show. Nothing like the street national back in Oz, no show and shine or burn out comps, just a paddock full of owners kit cars & pavilions full of manufaturers and component suppliers. Over night entertainment, but the Nova club has develped a reputation for partying well into the morning. Philfromsa will be there so I'm sure he will have a yarn or two to spin when he gets back down under. I'll be flying the Eureka flag and will take lots of pics and a few vids for you all. Catch ya later bushboy Title: Re: The British Reek is ROAD LEGAL Post by: CyCo on Friday, 01 May, 2009, 03:25:57 AM My suggestion is to keep the 'reek rear with the frenched lights.
Phil will have to have a video and photos for us when he turns up for the Annual Meet...... ;) ;D Title: Re: The British Reek is ROAD LEGAL Post by: StReek on Saturday, 02 May, 2009, 11:25:41 AM Hey Bushboy, been off the forum for a bit, car trouble and other stuff.......back now.........just had my exhaust renewed before the (incident !!), don't know if you checked it out on youtube..... Your car looks great, some nice mods..... Maybe you can post your exhaust sound on youtube too.....?? Would love to hear it.
Catching up on all the forum stuff as we speak..........let me know if there's anything I need to know guys and girls..........best wishes to all....... Roll on October. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bw5OPBUo_UE Go the FReeks........................ S t R e e k . . . Title: Re: The British Reek is ROAD LEGAL Post by: bushboy on Saturday, 02 May, 2009, 06:54:34 PM Streek,
Here is a link to my photo bucket video of the V6 firing up for the first time. No body shell and the exhaust is much as it is now. (http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y231/bushboy554/videos/th_100_1050.jpg) (http://s6.photobucket.com/albums/y231/bushboy554/videos/?action=view¤t=100_1050.flv) It sounds much better on the road and I have the driverside elephant ear connected directly to the air box, full throttle sounds a delight, and when you shut it down there is a nice hissing sound as the last of the vacuum is filled. I should have some on road footage soon as the UK's big show is this week end. I will eventually get it on youtube. Bushboy Title: Re: The British Reek is ROAD LEGAL Post by: MicksRedNova on Wednesday, 06 May, 2009, 09:43:26 PM Hi All
A representative of your Club (PhilinSA) attended the Club Nova meeting at Stoneleigh in UK over the May bank holiday weekend. Phil passed on the good wishes of James, your president, at the end of our AGM on Sunday, and as our furthest travelled member (yes we convinced him to join, if only for the food) he won the annual prize in the 'Furthest Distance Travelled to a Show' category. Here is a picture of him and Bushboy showing their awards. Bushboy won the Technical Modification award for getting the Reek and it's Ford V6 on the road and driving to the show. (http://i133.photobucket.com/albums/q49/MickAtHome/IMG_0094.jpg) Thanks for the Eureka Club goodies that Phil presented me with. I have taken over as the Club Nova Chairman and look forward to our combined efforts to keep these beautiful cars, wherever in the world they are, on the road. When I next come to visit my sister in Sydney I will make sure I get in touch. Thanks Mick Title: Re: The British Reek is ROAD LEGAL Post by: redreek(the stig) on Thursday, 07 May, 2009, 10:15:24 AM top stuff.
you would think phil would have lashed out and got himself a new ECCA cap for the trip. Title: Re: The British Reek is ROAD LEGAL Post by: CyCo on Thursday, 07 May, 2009, 01:50:54 PM lol
:P Title: Re: The British Reek is ROAD LEGAL Post by: Philinsa on Monday, 11 May, 2009, 10:39:44 PM I may be half way around the world but I can still hear you typing about me ;D
It was a top weekend. Got me a few rare bits for the two Reeks. But this discussion is about the V6 UK Reek. Thanks Bushboy for the drive. All I can say is WOW. Boy does she GO. Bushboy let me have a drive. It was a lovely road, but it went so fast you could not see the scenery. It was just a blurrrrr. All the power you could ever want was right there at any time, no waiting. If a Reek had doors, this one would have blown them off long ago. Got a good bit of film with bushboy driving. I will have it for the Nat meet, although I might get it up on UTube when I get back for all to see. Lost ofpics from the Stoneleigh Show, lots of weired & wonderful cars & things & lots of brochures as well. Ah well it's off to the Lake District on Monday morning, (someone's got to do it). Regards philinuk Title: Re: The British Reek is ROAD LEGAL Post by: CyCo on Tuesday, 12 May, 2009, 06:39:33 AM You might be able to hear us typing, but that's some time lag, 5 days!! lol
Sounds like you've been having too much fun over there. I hear that's illegal in Pommyland. :P Title: Re: The British Reek is ROAD LEGAL Post by: Philinsa on Sunday, 21 February, 2010, 01:31:01 PM Just thought I'd refresh this topic and put the link in here to the video I took at the time.
It's also on the youtube catagorie http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9vuapjTkK4c :o Title: Re: The British Reek is ROAD LEGAL Post by: cruetoone on Sunday, 21 February, 2010, 02:04:51 PM wow talk about grunt in that motor an the open roof what a rush you must feel driving as well as the passenger... Title: Re: The British Reek is ROAD LEGAL Post by: bushboy on Sunday, 21 February, 2010, 10:33:45 PM Cruetoone,
The noise is sweet, Im a bit biased though. The best bit from the drivers seat in the summer when the tops are off is the induction noise. I have a cold air feed direct from the right hand elephant ear into the air box. The Mazda V6 also has a variable length intake manifold. So as the engine goes through the rev range the induction noise changes. And because the elephant ear is right beside your ear you hear it all. The best is 2nd gear, 60kph, floor the acellerator and keep it there till it bounces around on the rev limiter. I'll have to try to recodr it this year. bushboy Title: Re: The British Reek is ROAD LEGAL Post by: cruetoone on Monday, 22 February, 2010, 09:19:50 AM an a sweet grunt it is ... :-[ 8) 8) 8) 8) 8)
