I picked up the 1968 Beetle yesterday and have attached a few pictures for you. To post actual photos from PhotoBucket into your posts, the easiest thing to do is go to your PB account, and find the photo/s you want to include in your post. When you place your mouse cursor over your photo, a popup menu appears below the photo. Copy the 4th option, the one labeled IMG CODE. Then simply paste the code into your post. Yea, almost got away with the floorpans but there's a few rust spots near the pedal cluster. Just for the experience I think I'll take them off and replace with new pans, got a guy in NSW selling new pans for $120 (Hopefully $50 postage if I'm lucky) I'll get the ok on these tomorrow. Got a question regarding the motor, I wanted to turn the engine over before removing it but havn't had any luck. Tried cranking her over by hand a few times and didn't work. As you can see, the wiring on the engine is 90% complete, and the + and - to the batt are connected also. Any advice how I can wire her up to get her started (the ignition and a few leads were pulled out before I picked the beetle up) Billy Title: Re: Billys eureka build Post by: ireek on Friday, 09 April, 2010, 01:13:45 PM use a scewdriver from large terminal on starter where battery is hooked up to the smaller lug type terminal. will spark and turn motor over. for it to run just put positive to coil. will have to take off to stop motor.
