Title: Shannons Aussie Classic Car Show
Post by: The Green Reek on Friday, 26 October, 2012, 02:38:04 AM
OK Vics, Its time we show the other states how to push the Eureka presence.
Shannons are holding their annual Aussie Classic Car Show at the Thunder Dome, Calder Park on Sunday 25th November.
Should be a great day out.
Mez, Stu, Denis sounds like a good cruise down the Calder!
I'll supply the cucumber sandwiches  ;)

Peter

PS. Other states are more than welcome.  whistle

Sounds like we've got a meet.
Pretty sure Pauls coming too.
I'll post more as we get closer for meeting.
I hope to be in a reek but I threw a fan blade yesterday so I'm off the road at the moment.
Hope thats all the damage!

Yep, I'll be there for sure.  ;D  I've just been granted a leave pass  :police:

Better make sure the morph suit has been washed so it's ready in time eh!  :evl:    8)

Do you have a replacement fan Peter 'cause I've got one or two spares sitting around here I could post up to you if you want.

PP.

Thanks Paul,
Unfortunately my first guess was more hopefull than practical.
I shut it down as soon as I heard the clank.
I had noticed low battery power at the time and hoped it was something stalling the alternator.
But alas it was the No 1 big end bearing.
Probably to many bathurst laps in second.
So unless I can get the parts and do the work in time I may have to convoy with my VE SS Ute.

PS Its for sale if anyone wants to step down from a Eureka to a 6 ltr 6 speed manual 09 Red Ute.
20" Chimey Black Chrome rims, 1000w Sub.
PM me if your in the market.

Peter

Hi Stu,
Ive got it listed on carsales

http://www.carsales.com.au/private/details/holden-ute-2009-13589347 (http://www.carsales.com.au/private/details/holden-ute-2009-13589347)

But we can haggle if your interested.

Parts are ordered and hopefully the reek will be good for the show.
Paul, I think I'll change the box over while its in bits. Any tips? or just undo everything and let gravity do the work.
Peter

Easy peasy Peter, just do like I did in 2003 as below; kick the mother-in-law out of her carport for the long weekend and rip into it!!   :o ??? ;D O0

Seriously though, the only annoying bit with a swingaxle is that you have to remove the axles with it which means the rear suspension needs to be undone and has to be realigned and the brakes have to either come apart or get removed from the axles like I did which might let some gear oil out the ends of the axle tubes (horrible stinkin' stuff).  Good time to adjust the height of your rear suspension though!  8)

I've changed Dweeby's swingaxle tranny twice now and the second time it only took me 1 night and the following day by myself.

Good luck,

PP.

Thanks

I notice this is on the same day as "Day of the Volkswagon" at Yarra Glen in Victoria.
I wonder which event might be better... just because of the VW Influence etc and the stalls etc on display.

I don't know what "esteem" the VW Club of Victoria put their VW Chassis'd cousins in... however I thought I'd mention it.

Hi fellow Mexicans,

Congrats. Diane and Glenn
A new grand daughter is a reasonable excuse to miss a car show. I also wont be there, I had 3 things I could have done on Sunday. 2 of them are here in Traf. but I now have a funeral to go to up at Batemans Bay on Thursday and dont know when we will get home. To all who are going have a good day.
Morris.

Congratulations Gramps ;D sorry you can't be in 2 places at once though. :P

For those of us still going, the aim is to get there about 9:30 when the gates open for exhibitors.

So for those of us coming from the east, if we meet up (or fly past ) on the M1 under the Stud road overpass at around 8:30am we should get there in plenty of time.

Peter, Stuart, Heath, Mez and Dragan, if you guys are still planning on coming then probably best if we just meet up at Calder Park itself.  Entry is via the Calder Highway and they'll probably put all us kit cars together so whoever gets in first, make sure to save the rest of us a spot ;)

PP.
ps, no morph suits allowed O0

Wow Glenn, Brilliant but sorry to miss you Sundy.

I won't be reeking but I'll be there in a Red SS ute.

Stu, Mez, I was thinking of travelling the Calder from Bendigo. If you want to short cut to Harcourt I can jump off there to catch up with you. Have to drop some parts off to Mustang Marque anyway.
Otherwise I was thinking of being at the Macca's in Kangaroo Flat at about 8 am. Coffee Time.

Stu have you see Slug lately, would he be interested?

I take it your not going to make it Phill?

The reek is together on the spare motor but I think I'll rest it as I haven't done a run in on that motor yet.
I decided to line bore the #1 main as there was some scoring.

Peter

I've heard that they now know what causes it these days  :o.

Yes, Peter, you are correct. At this stage I will not be going this time. :'(
I'm getting old, thought it was next weekend :-[

Have a good one everybody  :-*

Will look out for Hanging Rock whistle

Hi Peter,

Yes Im all geared up and ready to go, just got to put in fuel, so if you like I can catch up with you at Maccas in Kangaroo Flat, I might leave here earlier than 8, so Im in Kangaroo Flat by 8.00, giving us a little bit of extra time.

Its about 1 1/2 hours to Calder Park from Bendigo, so should be on the road by 8 to meet up with others at 9.30.

See you all there!

Stu

Have a great day and look forward to catching up next time.

Hi Guys:
Unfortunately "Dad" duty calls first and I've got to attend a Birthday Party with my Son tomorrow which is going to keep me away..
I'm going to drop in on "Day of the VW" in Yarra Glen on the way... let you know how it is...
