Title: Central Vic Run
Post by: The Green Reek on Tuesday, 30 November, 2010, 03:36:55 AM
Hi Guys,
I was going to try an organise a Central Vic run for Late Nov, Early Dec but time is getting away.
So who's up for a run / lunch in the new year? (Second weekish)
Mary and Dragon as well as The Rock (not dwayne) and Dianne were interested so how about it?
Nothing hugh. Starting perhaps at Bendigo or Heathcote and heading to a winery.

Call me on 0437433300

Thanks
Peter

PS. This includes you too slug. And I don't know what you meant by "Eureka wiring is simple". Mine isn't.
 ;)

Damn you!!! Going to a winery and it's too far for me to go!! Someone had better get themselves a wino in my honor.

 :P

Err, don't worry Jase, someone will explain. Oh, and probably offer you a seat so you can ride shotgun.

Sounds like we've got a run.
So how about Saturday the 8th.
I'll scout the local wineries and get back to you with a firm location.

Great to see such interest guys.
The initial meeting point is Heathcote but the Bendigo guys and Melbourne guys may like to convoy first.
I am still organising the end point but we won't travel too far.

Jase, you don't have to be a member and I'm sure we could find a seat for you if you want to come along.

Cyco, plenty of room at Casa Reekgeek if you want to bunk over. Just let me know.

PS. If any non reek owners or un completed reek owners want to come along - please do.

Im keen for a run in the Eureka! It needs the cobwebs blowing off it anyway, not been out for ages.

I could have a spare seat, if Sue doesnt want the ride.

Pete I have slotted in for the 8th. Have a mate who might be interested in tagging along - he's a Bolwell or Lotus man but also likes the Eureka. Regards Slug.

Those going on the Central Vic run - I have recently started a thing called Bendigo IPTv. It's designed to replace the void left in our area where mainstream TV now doesn't do any local programs (other than a regional News from WIN). If everyone's happy then I might bring along a camera and shoot a program on the run. To get an idea of what I mean check out one I did a couple of weeks ago on the local Rod, Stock and Custom Show. Just go to www.bendigoiptv.com and click on the icon at bottom screen - Rod Stock & Custom Show. We're also on Telstra T Box - go to BigPond Videos, then Regional TV - and there it is. We're download free if you're a Telstra BigPond customer. Although it's designed to focus on Central Victoria a side benefit is that you can watch us anywhere in the world. Obviously won't do it if people feel it's too intrusive. Regards Slug.

Hi Slug
I think any exposure for our club / cars is a good thing. Reekgeek is running the show and I dont know about time for filming. If members dont like their car or head on film they could stand behind the camera man and laugh at the rest. Maybe another day and location of your choice could be setup just for filming.

Looking forward to the day either way Morris.

Hi Denis and others,
Sorry for not posting earlier but I was waiting for confirmation of our booking.

Here it is:
We're meeting at Heathcote and leaving there at 1 PM (Sharp)
Hope that works for the long distance travellers.
We are then travelling onto Nagambie where we will have lunch and photo ops at
Chateau Tahbilk - http://tahbilk.com.au/ (http://tahbilk.com.au/)

I'll have the menus soon. Their just producing a new summer menu.
We've got plenty of room for extras so any unfinished reekers please come!
Not to mention wives of course.

I think it would be great to have some publicity Denis so "Yes Please".

I'll contact each of you closer to the date so please email me if you haven't yet and you are interested in going.

Peter

Man that would be awesome. How often do we get any air time on TV? heh, I'd say that if I had the 'reek way back when I was working for the local community tv station, it would have featured quite a lot. lol Not that they ever made it to air, but that's another story.

Hi All,
Hope Santa came to everyone with lots of reek parts.
Update on the run.
At this point we should have 9 cars - whoooo!
One change -
We'll meet in the Heathcote footy oval car park.
Plenty of shade and no problems with parking as Heatcote gets quite busy (for Heathcote) on a Satdurday.
Bendigo people turn left after the oval for the entrance.
Melbourne people turn right as you get to the footy oval.
Please be there from 12:30 on. I'll get there a little early.
The road into the winery is gravel and a bit bumpy so you may want a dusting cloth.
Very pretty place, you should have a fantastic day.

Peter       ;)

Only 3 more sleeps to go, YAY ;D

The Gippsland contingent will be heading off reasonably early and we plan to be under the Stud Road overpass on the M1 by 9:00am so if anyone else would like to convoy up from there you are most welcome to join up with us there or anywhere else you might have in mind.  Give me a call on 0418 307 973 if you'd like to meet us there so we know whether to stop there and wait or just blow straight through.  :D It's heaps more fun driving up in a Reek convoy rather than on your lonesome :)

There's a few spare seats available too if you're looking for one.

PP.

Just letting you all know that we will be there at 12.30, I haven't been at work in a month so apologies if I haven't responded to your email Peter, but I am sure you already knew we were coming, we wouldn't miss it!!

Bad news is the reek is still not running :'(

Thanks to Peter for a well organized event.

As usual Diane and I enjoyed the pleasure of seeing our friends, in our favorite surroundings(the reek) and Ron, we agree that Brocky and Sascha should become Vic club mascots and we wish to bid for visitation rights ;D (pretty please Dragan and Mez?) Also thanks to Dragan, Mary, Brocky and Sascha for a great after-party.

Hi All,
Thanks for a fun weekend.
Sorry about the bumps!!
I also forgot to book the weather. 40 going down but a  cool 39 going home.
I hope everyone had as much fun as I did and I hope you all got home dry and safe. (It bucketed down on Sunday)
It was great to see the VDub boys come along to the footy oval and I think Mez made a valuable contact.
6 cars and 11 attendees was pretty good considering the heat.
I've posted some pics here:

Only 4 weeks until Hanging rock. Hope to catch you all there again.

Thanks
Peter

Ah bugga, gotta take the work bus :(..... (bit hard to fit all the tools in the REEK)

We also had a terrific time over the weekend!

It was fantastic to see everyone and of course the reeks. It was great to see Ron and a big thanks for making the trip south of the border, it was great to catch up.

Sasha wants to send big kisses and hugs to Glenn, she misses him something shocking! She went to the door after he and Dianne left and meowed, he has a friend for life. As for visitation rights to the kitty cats, you are welcome anytime to visit/stay whenever you want, we loved the company and so did they, same goes for you too Ron.

It was great to meet Rhett of the Bendigo VW Club and doubly great that he also has a Marauder! Thanks for coming out guys!

Speaking of thanks, what can I say - Peter magnificent effort putting the run together, great company, great food and the sun was shining, hope to do it again soon!

Here's a photo of the kitty cats so you don't miss them too much until next time  :-*.

Thanks Rhett, it was great to have you guys there. Hopefully we can do more together.

PS. On the floods.
Echuca did get some flooding but it was reasonably minor. About 100 properties affected but not too serious.
And my reek still has dry feet.
I hope our reek friends the QLD were as fortunate.
Our thoughts are with you guys.

Peter
